"Tom writes about"n:http://dev11.otherworks.com/theotherblog about Share Your OPML. A very clever idea, but is it useful? It's nice to be able to see what blogs other people have in common with you, but where do you go from there? I guess one application is to see what blogs I might have missed.

What will you not wear today?

Thyn Gem sweater Ever had a what-to-wear-panic before going out? Then browse through this site first so that you know what not to wear.

This is apparently some sort of art project. I couldn't be asked to read enough on it so don't ask me what's going on.

Bugknits

Bugknits Look at this picture for example. They're actually knitted. How; I don't know.

Unfortunately it doesn't say on the website how she does these so I'll just optimistically assume that she actually does them by her very steady hands. Amazing. The site contains lots of pictures of knittings that I fear is more attractive to engineers than to people who actually like knitted stuff. Well done Althea!

Neon-Brite, a 360 degree theatre play

Here you can watch a theatre play in 360 degrees. I'm not a big fan of the Real player but this is pretty cool. The camera is sat in the middle and the actors are acting all around in the camera. It is your job to spin the camera around so you can see who is talking. I think it's called the "Be Here plug-in" which installs automatically if you've got the Real player.

It's something we haven't seen since before the multi-media-internet. We've seen panoramic pictures and streaming video before, but this is a mix of those two. It obviously becomes a one-man-viewing experience but it's pretty cool. When you think about it; never before has the audience of any play been able to do this.

Unfortunately "120 Seconds" is a Flash site it's impossible to copy the exact URL so you have to follow the link and click on "Experiments" in the menu and then one of the five little buttons to find the one for "Neon-Brite". Enjoy.

Afghan expressionism in a modern era

War rug "At first glance they look like the rugs woven for hundreds of years by the tribal peoples of Afghanistan. But instead of traditional abstract motifs such as water jugs, chickens, blossoms and horses, these rugs depict tanks, paisley-shaped helicopters, jets, hand grenades and Kalashnikov rifles." source Forbes.com

Check out the war rugs with the NYC world trade towers. Don't know why but I find these rugs really appealing. I'd love to have one!

Getting fired in 3 hours This crazy dude gets a job to try to get fired as quickly as possible. There's another similar article about Blind Dating by this same guy that I have to read when time allows.

The interview:

Manager: It says here your last job was at85 the85 Ein Burger Haus?
Me: Ya! This information is correct!
Manager: Tell me about your duties at Ein Burger Haus.
Me: I had many, many, many ways to make burgers.
Manager: Do you have experience with cash registers?
Me: Ya, I like to work with machines!

Every part of his first working day is logged:

12:54 am
Veronica tells me to clean around the fryer. I nod my head and start refilling the napkin dispensers.

Memory Test on BBC Science

Try this Memory Test on BBC Science. They have "several other tests"n:http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/index.shtml?brain that are worth checking out too.

I passed all the tests I took I can proudly say. Not always very fast, but at least I didn't cheat. My technique was to remember each word in a sequence of events that connects each word, but these connections span more than two words. I.e. To remember "dinosaur", "jumper", "guitar" I imagine: "a big green dinosaur", "the dinasaur puts on a red jumper", "the dinsaur is happy for his jumper because now he can play the guitar".

Truncated! Read the rest by clicking the link below.

Ha ha! I can't believe it's true. Why didn't I think of that when I was poorer? Maybe because I'm too big for any crate.

"In September last year, McKinley sent himself in a cargo crate from Newark airport in New Jersey to Dallas/Forth Worth in Texas, to visit his parents. "

He was sentenced to pay a fine of $1,500 for his act and put in house arrest for your months.

Do you know about Wikipedia?

Wikipedia is a Wiki website where lots of people can contribute with content. That means that anybody can write anything, and even delete what other people write. Wikipedia claims to have over 200,000 articles in English. Wow!

The rules of different Wiki frameworks differ but a central feature is that the text you write quickly links to other pages. This also encourages you to write something about the new odd words you introduce. Words like "is", "the" are normally not considered, but just look at how many links there are on any Wikipedia page.

The Swedens have their own equivalent on susning.nu which has a feature I really like: hyperlinks aren't underlined. Reading on Wikipedia sometimes gets slowed down because of all the tempting links.

Wikipedia has a Swedish version too which claims to contain over 20,000 articles. (I might be wrong but Susning.nu seems much faster)

This is what Internet is all about!
