The Matrix Revolutions, naive but spectacular

Trinity, still sexy but saddened in this film Just got back from the premiere of The Matrix Revolutions which is the last in the trilogy of the Matrix films.

I don't want to spoil it for anybody but I can say that I was impressed. Lots of computer animated laser guns, flying punches and causality questions. The story is as expected pretty shit but who cares. I didn't go to see the film for the love story or the "We're doomed! ...unless a miracle happens".

One thing is for certain: Don't rent this film on VHS. See it at the cinema with great sound and wide screen.

I particularly enjoyed the final fighting scene. My immediate impression is that Jacky Chan, Let Li et. al. have a lot of catching up to do :)

Parrot; CLR for the poor man

I really like the CLR idea that is used in Microsoft .NET

A CLR lets you run programs as a mix of programs written in several different languages. Zope is another such framework. You can use either Python, Perl or PHP for scripting; but that's a much higher level and with a different goal.

The story of Parrot is funny. It started as a April's fool joke, but was later taken seriously and is now a serious open source project.

"Parrot is now the name of a proposed virtual machine that should be able to run Perl as well as Python code." Read more here

This article describes it better.

Same webpage, different design. Very different design in fact.

Click on "Select a design" on the right hand side. There weren't many I really like but Stone washed could be cute. sub:lime is pleasant to look at but the text is too small.

PLEAC - Programming Language Examples Alike Cookbook

Nice little webpage that lists the same programming problems solved in many different programming languages. The nice thing about this listing is that suppose you know Python you can then learn other languages by comparing them with the ones you know.

From this I found this nice article about Haskell Worth reading.

"Haskell is a modern, standard, non-strict, purely-functional programming language."
