Ive seen a couple of users say it may be due to lack of oxygen. Im conviced that is what it is. I tried a very simple trick. Hyperventilate very deep breaths until you get dizzy and saturate your blood with oxygen. Really go at it like you have been running. My red hot ear cooled down in less than 10 seconds. I believe this RES is deeply related to cluster headaches and migraines and falls in the category of trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias. Even without pain, these can be related and ive never had a migraine. It was a miracle for me, hopefully it can work with you. Very mysterious, and can have random triggers but the key seems to be oxygen.
