I have RES. I am 69 years, and developed this syndrome after having my ears treated with a drug called Carac for pre -cancerous lesions. The drug turned my ears into something that looked like raw hamburger. Ever since My ears sustained this Truma, my left ear turns red and hot. My belief is that truma plays a part in this syndrome. I also believe that RES can signal a nasty and hard to diagnose desease called Polychrondritis. This is an autoimmune desease that can affect all cartledge in the body. Yes, I know it's scary but the possibility is out there, so don't blow it off.
