It's oregon. reason is, in one episode Lisa is collecting cans on the beach that are worth 5 cnts a piece. that narrows it down to less then 10 states. Then in that same episode the school had taken a field trip to Albany (very close to Springfield Oregon). Also the Simpsons have been kickd out of many states so that narrows it down even more. Lastly, it has to be west of the Mississippi because the radio station (kbbl) starts with a "K". Radio stations starting with K are west of the Mississippi, stations starting with "w" are east. I do believe there are a lot of contradicting facts on the show so if anyone has any thoughts, leave a message on my myspace www.myspace.com/natekaufman
Oh, and I guess Vermont won the springfield contest, I'm almost possitive thats not right.
