The name "Springfield" isnt the actual name of the city they hail from. There are many many clues that suggest that springfield is close to or in Connecticut. And you are very wrong.. they have a choice to go to either Cincinatti or Cleveland... they choose NEITHER and turn around. They definately DO NOT live in Ohio. On one of the episodes the simpsons go to a air show and in the air force base there is a hanger 18 with a alien in it. This is refering to the mysterious hanger 18 at wright patterson air force base in OHIO. The SIMPSONS are from OHIO
Maybe they just put a bunch of different landmarks out of each state to keep it going! There from every state omg! How is that possible? Its a cartoon people. But i still wonder myself from time to time.

I am not sure where they live but as sound logic as this may be, Ohio is not the only state that starts with O, many have pointed to Oregon as well
