The number next to each

should reflect how many linebreaks you see visually.
This is a one very long string on one line the HTML source that doesn't contain any hard linebreak characters. I wonder a few things about this textarea that I need to experiment with to understand properly.
This textarea box contains exactly one line break and it is comes very soon. Both of the two lines when split hard are long in them themselfs. This is now the second line of the hard break. I hope it doesn't stop working just becaue I write something really really long in this textarea input.
