About me and this website

My name is Peter Bengtsson and I'm a web developer from London, UK. Originally from Gränna, Sweden.
My job title is Senior Developer at Fry-IT based in central London.

This website started out as an experiment of using the Zope web framework. That was in June 2003 and it was running on a home DSL with fixed IP as the server on a crappy old laptop which then became my first home Linux server.

Over the years, the software has evolved massively but some of the 7 year old code is still lingering around and I'm admitting it hard to find the time upgrade everything. There are certain features of the site that I'm quite proud of. Many of them are commonplace today but when I added them they were often quite innovative such as using PageRank to order related blogs, using a spell corrector a la Google on the search, ability to include LaTeX in blog text, infinitely nested comments, etc.
Over the years I think I've tried four different advertisement includes. None that have made me any money. Currently I'm using Chitika which actually seems to work. It's not making me millions but at least enough to make the beer feel less expensive.
In recent years I've been using the site to experiment with web server optimization by fronting it with various constellations of Nginx and Varnish.
